Native status card to renew?

ok so my mom was cleaning out the cupboards in her house and she came accross my old native card. its from 1990-1991 a little laminated peice of orange paper. signed by a vice president. is it still valid or is it done, or does it need to be updated to new cards that have pictures? i have no clue about this stuff but am glad to at least have it.
