How can i get my cat to stop toppling over my garbage bins?

I've tried everything I know of to stop this behavior. Making loud noises when she starts to peek into the bin, lightly hitting the ground or table she is on so that she will feel a vibration with the sound, even pulling her away and trying to explain that her behavior is not good. I know that hitting, or spraying water on cats is like hitting a child so I don't do that but I would like to find out how I can get her to be less naughty. Any advice?
